The Cocoon

Let’s Help Puerto Rico. Art Auction. The Goodman Afterschool Kids have decided they would like to help the people of Puerto Rico. The recent hurricanes have been devastating for the island and it’s people. Electricity is still off on most of the island and homes are in need of repair. Food, water and medicine are also needed.
This Summer the kids made a giant Art Cocoon/Nest/Pod Mobile which is hanging in Goodman’s Lobby (come take a look). It is made of grapevines, branches and garland. It is tied together with rope, string and ribbon donated by the families of the children. In class, we talked about what family, home and community are. We also talked about how these things may look different, but the main thing is heart. We also looked at different cultures and the animal world for inspiration. The sculpture is about 7 feet tall. It looks wonderful suspended in a lobby or perhaps a tree or an entranceway to a home or business. Starting the evening of October 5 on Goodman’s Facebook page we will be auctioning ‘'The Cocoon” to raise money for Puerto Rico. Starting bid is $50. Place your bid in the comment section or email me at davidk@goodmancenter.org
